Dubai was a lot of fun, way more than that I expected from a desert. They have all sorts of things to entertain there, and Transfer had organized for us to check out some of the attractions.

We got a flight out the following morning and headed in to this crazy country. This was taken out the plane window on the way in to Afghanistan.

I fly out to Dubai in a few hours and will be on one of the craziest shoots I have ever been on. I have to keep things pretty quiet because of security issues. I will post something about the adventure when I can.

I made a dolly with things around the house that was pretty rickety. I ended up using an old Lego set to make a gear box that would slow down the dolly to run over three hours. The stars were shot with a 1.4 24mm on a Canon 5DmII.

I didn’t end up having much time to complete many, but thought I might as well put a few into a little clip. I hope you enjoy.

Sims, Amy and I having dinner in one of the villages we stayed in. It was pretty much just rice and leaves, not that tasty but when you haven’t got anything else its not too bad.

I’m heading to Sydney in a few days where I will be based for a little while working at the Transfer office. I hope you all have a great Christmas wherever you are. Let’s hope for plenty of new experiences and adventures in the New Year.

Most of the trip has been spent with locals in the more remote villages and away from the main tourist trail which has been great for genuine photo opportunities and some interesting experiences. But it has also been very challenging as they have barely even seen a camera before and are quite hesitant and hide away.

There are loads of kids playing on the new roads that have been built by the Chinese.  It seems really dangerous at first but you soon get used to avoiding them on the bikes.

Coming into Luang Parbang last night on the fast boat.

It’s also been nice having some down time over the last few weeks. Yesterday we went out to Cape Kidnappers where a friend farms and did a little pest control.  It’s an amazing bit of land with grand cliffs that drop away to the to the ocean.
