Back home and busy

So it has been a busy few weeks since I took my break. I have moved into a new place in Queenstown but barely had a chance to sleep there.  My good friend Bugs from Reason Films and I have been out shooting time lapses around Queenstown. Ben sussed out this dolly from a group in Dunedin that makes all sorts of devices to help people in our industry. The dolly runs off a small motor and a timer, so we can produce a smooth pan over two hours. We are still perfecting how to get it right but have had some good results.

This is a still from the time lapse. There should be some of the clips in the next Diaries Down Under episode.

This is the device and set up in action shooting the sun going down over a 50 minute period.

I have also been out with the Red Bull crew covering their first snowboarding performance camp. They get their best riders in the world over to train with coaches and work on anything they are wanting to improve.  We stayed out at Millbrook for the week and got treated to some very nice living, not that I had much time to enjoy it. They had a really well planned program and I was stoked to be a part of it.

Wojtek (above) was the rider I was assigned to focus on, a very talented rider especially on the rails.

Jake Koia was up there throwing a few doubles into the air bag.

Also, a few more magazines have hit the shelf. I got my second cover for the year so stoked on that. I have been working with Transfer mag and with the MadeYouLook crew alot, so make sure you pick up a copy of Transfer if you haven’t already - there is some great content in there. Transfer also have a special hard cover issue hitting the shelf in NZ and Aus in the next few weeks. I’m really looking forward to this issue, and can’t wait to see how my work came out.

Rob Mitchell and I had a lot of fun and got a lot done in Tahoe at the start of this year. He killed it on this jump and it paid off with a cover.

Kazu has some amazing style and I was stoked to go shoot with him and the Stranded Film crew this last winter. I was pretty happy with this sequence.

Check out this article and make sure you watch the movie. Bugs has done an epic job. I have never seen Hyner as stoked as he was after this hit. I showed him the shot on the back of my camera and he was jumping in the air like a school girl and hugging me. Stoked.
