Home and back away.

I have had some time to relax, clear the air and have a good think about what has been and what is to come. It’s always nice to spend some time relaxing, thinking of new ideas and getting the creative mind back into gear – taking walks along the lake, getting up early for a surf, and eating some nice home cooking. It doesn’t take long before I am ready to get right back into it though. I’m not one to sit around indulging in nice food and taking long walks along the beach for long. I like being busy.

Here is a series of time exposures I took along the lake side at Taupo the other night. They range from 30 seconds up to 25 minutes. I like the dream feel and the even tones you can get with these long exposures.

.

This image took 25 mins to capture – check out the star trails. It is quite hard to keep the quality when taking exposures for this long, unless you’re shooting with film. I’m still quite impressed with what the 5d m2 produced.

Also I have been learning a lot about studio work. perfecting my skills in Photoshop to make you look skinnier, bright eyed and with flawless skin tones, so if you need a portrait give me a call haha. I have also invested in a few new light adapters and a back drop. I’m planning on setting up a bit of a studio at my place in Queenstown this season.

The back drop, I also have a large  light box on its way.

For lack of a model on hand I used my brother’s dog (Molly) to take a few test shots.

Also some autumn leaves – not the most natural place to shoot these I know but I love the colour.

This is another shot from the lake. I like the perspective, it’s kind of hard to work out.

So I will be heading down to Queenstown in about a week’s time where I will be based for the winter. I am really looking forward to the drive down and getting back into it.
